I came home blue
Tears rolling down in pain

The evening turned yellow
With hugs and support from family

Off to a walk we went under the indigo sky
Hand in hand in the drizzling rain

With the little one riding her violet bike
Bravely through the windy walkway

I was brimming with joy
The feelings within turning orange

While walking back playfully
Green nature around healed me

Finally, I blushed red
When I saw a rainbow in the sky

Nature’s way of telling me I love you,

Rainbow Dreams

Rainbow feels a lot closer to heart for all of us. It brings with it hope and revival after glumness. I am a strong believer of nature’s symbols and always think about rainbows as nature’s showers of blessings upon me. There’s always something to smile about, be happy about. These tiny moments in life are true blessings that I want to feel thankful for.

Since each colour of the rainbow represents a strong emotion, I thought about bringing it all together to write something. At difficult times, message from the universe offers reassurance. I was in severe self-doubt that evening when I was back from work. When my family offered to go out for a walk even though the weather was windy outside. Had I chosen to sit down and sulk, I would not have had this experience in my life.

The walk brought in such a lovely evening of togetherness. It made me realize that challenges always lead to better changes within us. The beauty of family and nature was present fully that evening for me. At that minute, I felt very blessed.

I also read somewhere that rainbows represent a connection between physical and spiritual worlds. They calm you and help you to look forward to new beginnings, helping you feel that better days are coming soon.

For this moment, I strongly felt that I was in tune with my purpose. Even though I felt like a failure that day, seeing the rainbow made me feel that I was receiving an important message from the universe. It re-iterated everything that my husband told me before we walked out, this is an important moment in your life. Somehow it truly felt like a comforting message.

This rainbow is also close to my heart because it sent me the message to trust myself and stay strong. It narrated to me the importance of staying focussed, and speaking up is important when you really have to. It showed me the importance of building a strong foundation to who I am and just keep building on it. Patience and Silence are two key elements that I am working towards to build myself for my new dreams.

What’s your favourite rainbow memory?

Hello Again!

It has been so long. It has really been a very long time since I wrote on this blog. Now, I’ve told to myself more than a million times How miserable can this get. Anyway finally decided to move this blog as well to a free Word press blog in the coming months. I’ve recently moved my other blog. This decision has lifted a big weight out of my head. It’s not that I wrote here in a long time anyway. It’s made me feel a lot less guilty about this whole space.

I realized it is not going to be easy to find that extra time to sit down and write. I am exhausted by the end of the day. It’s never easy to find that space to sit down and write. I have taken the time to understand myself. Even as I’d love to spend the time to sit down and write, I am not doing that. I remembered the time I used to tune into the blog as a place to sit down and reflect my thoughts.

I cannot be the do-it-all mum or the beating myself hard mum. I’ve had enough of the pain of pricking myself with the pin. As a person with multiple interests, one thing I do every day now is, Breathe Out a lot and see if I can make time for anything that is not work, home or family or phone related stuff. What do I do for myself? Absolutely nothing to be honest.

Writing has always been my kind of theraphy. Time and again, it has been a place where I’ve just poured out. Be it a journal, a piece of paper or on a phone. Penning my thoughts has always given me good sleep. On sleepless nights, writing, scribbling has helped me get back to bed and have a good sleep. I am trying to remember the time where I would sit down, write with absolutely no distraction. When I started this blog in college, this was my cocoon. Not a brilliant writer, but liked to write.

It was freeing, hence I named the blog the same way. It’s me thinking out loud in this blog. I did not have the slightest worry of who read it, what they will think about my thoughts. I just wrote as a open space for my feelings. And lots of random thoughts poured. When I tried to segregate them into more meaningful posts, it started making little sense. As I tried to mould myself into something else following trends, I lost the interest to write.

Now, I just want it to flow again. I am sitting and typing this at my work desk at home, channelling out the loud TV noise in the next room. Right behind on the couch, as my daughter is telling an endless story, just nodding my head listening with the third ear and pouring these words down. Heavy eyelids, writing after 9pm, neck in sheer pain after staring at the laptop beyond work hours, I can’t believe I am writing again.

Breathing again now, it’s going to be a good night’s sleep today! I want to break my own self-talk of not doing enough of self-care. This is one of my key self-care routines. This blog has not just helped me put my thoughts together. It has helped me in many ways beyond explanation.

Thanks my dear blog for always being there for me. It’s going to be a fresh start 🙂

I was recently reading The Comfort Book by Matt Haig and his words about words just stayed with me.

Words don’t capture, they release. Matt Haig, The Comfort Book

That moment when I read this page, I was relieved by my wanting to write something, somewhere, anywhere. If not the blog, then the journal. If not the journal, then just a random piece of paper, nothing really fancy at all. Just write. It’s just that writing in bits and pieces never makes their way to the blog. However, for that moment I am free since my mind becomes clear. When it comes to writing in a blog, I am still at a point where I need to make time. Since I can only put my thoughts in silence, I need that quiet. There’s sometimes very little of it in the day, but definitely it’s not a complaint, I am grateful.

I have been thinking to put this together for a while now. I wanted to put these thoughts out on the paper to release them from my mind. Finally they are out here in their home. This post is mainly for me to reiterate to myself about parenting. What I feel about parenting, not just the roles and responsibilites but the fears and premonitions that comes with it. Everyday it is more of me telling myself about raising a normal child in today’s extraordinary world. A couple of years before I wrote a post on my other blog, how parenting is hard. In the recent times, I have this openness to accept that parenting is hard, but being a child is harder. Being there for your child always, is hardest.

As a parent, I chew on random thoughts every minute of the day. It took me a while to understand what my husband has always said – what will happen will happen. In the name of trying to protect her from everything there is, I hardly let her be. Keeping her in front of my eyes is not called keeping her safe. When I see something I start thinking all that could go wrong in the next 20 years. Just the thought is terrifying.

However, for a minute after I breathe, I tell myself that I am exhausted just thinking about it. I sometimes think my mind is like a social media feed which I keep scrolling endlessly without thinking. The thoughts are not as fascinating as it looks on the feed, but colorful enough to tire my eyes. These are times I realize I’m so out of touch with myself. Time to pour my thoughts out in any piece of paper or let them go to clear them off.

Yesterday while walking back from work, a random thought popped up. How busy I thought I was when I was a college student. Now I wish I had some more fun then. I wish I took a breathe, enjoyed that moment a bit more without the thought of what the future holds. Today what I am doing, where I am, though I am happy – it is nothing close to what I had imagined it to be. I didn’t once think that I need to make friends all over again after or that I will move to a new place. When I try to think about my own relationships, I still find it hard to have conversations with new people. When I talk, there’s very little to start with or so I feel. Adult friendships without motive is rare.

Asking my daughter to just go and talk and make friendships sometimes feels like a harder job in itself. Some children are curious, they ask questions openly. This way there’s no offense taken. That’s far better sometimes than children building a wall stating you’re not allowed in my place. As a parent, I could see how hurtful that behavior is, I put myself in her shoes then. When the parent doesn’t utter a word, it makes me lose trust about the world. However, I always tell my daughter, when you make a friend you’ll know it in your heart. There’s hope somewhere in me still.

We all need someone our age to understand what we go through even if we have a sibling. For someone who’s an only child, then imagine, it’s a lonely world, even if you have parents playing with you. These friends sometime stay with us longer or sometimes the journey is short, but the memories are good. I was a shy kid at school. If not for the two girls who initiated conversations and made me their friends, I would have hardly opened up. I had a lot of cousins at home, so I preferred peace at school, I thought. They both made me realise we all need someone. So many years later, these two girls have been my besties throughout my life.

As a parent, I could feed the child, be there, take care. I can tell her what I think I know, teach her right from wrong, but her way through the world will teach her life more than what we do as parents. For the child to process it all, to absorb it all, it not only takes years. There is a lot of learning for them, yet a lot of unlearning too. These will be only from her experiences she will face. The one question that keeps me going as a parent, Does what I say and what I do match-up?

There will always be external pressures in our life wherever we are. What really has to happen is the change in me, the need to rise up to being a parent. Listening to her world, the way it is, grasping it, being a learner in her world, just learning to be there. It is definitely not easy, with so many new words and lifestyles and cultures to understand. Life today is different for children especially with everything available to them in the internet. Type it and whether you like it or not, you get more than what you want to know. Are they in a position to digest it all. When do they need help, do they know they need help at all? After all who do they have if not us?

It might look like I am available to her too much, but the truth is, me being there is important. As a parent, I have come from being a full-time mother, to a working mother. I love my job, but I always joke about it as a diversion from family business. My career growth is important to me, but being there for my child in today’s world is more important to me now than ever.

After all, we are all she has. And she is all I have. It’s cliche, but right now I am parent, not a friend. Probably, in another 10 years life will be different and she will forget that I was strict with her as a parent, or will remember it was for the best for her – I don’t know. That’s her story to tell, not mine. Today, the only thing I want to do is being there for her. I want her to know only one thing, she is loved, she will always be loved.

Once I read somewhere, in your whole life if you have 5 people who loves you with all their heart, then you are blessed. We want to be her family she could rely on. I don’t know about 5 people, but right now she has only 2 people who she sees all the time and it is so tiring if I am going to be telling her what not to do all the time. I have failed a million times in learning to be there for her, but I could see that I am a little bit better than last year. That’s all that counts for me.

Learning to be there for her has also made me be a bit better with myself. Whenever something happens, I could see that I tell myself, it’s okay and I can get through this one thing at a time. It’s true that children in our life help us learn so much about ourselves through them. I have a really long way to go. However, at this minute being here counts.

When I made up my mind to write about the challenges I lost this year, I really wanted to see how lost I felt this year. However, what happened last week while finding my Santa at BAR changed my feeling. I realized that I hardly see things happening right in front of me. I live in a world of my own. That’s the reason for more chaos within me than I could relate to. It gave me a calm that I never had this year even after choosing it as the word for 2019. I think the best suited word for 2019 would have been SURVIVE.

At the beginning of this year, I was excited about all the projects I had planned for the year. I never accepted the obvious facts that were staring at my face. Yes, that’s me. Always want to accomplish a lot, don’t want to say NO, to others as well as to myself, but don’t know how to keep it going.

I couldn’t digest the fact that my days are not the busiest with my own things anymore. While I try to remember the fact that I’m a mother to a sweetheart who is growing up so fast everyday and that the time I spend with her is equally important, but that feeling that there is something missing has been constant. I understood so much about myself this year, especially where I falter.

So, to close the missing pieces, I chose some projects that would keep me entertained and busy. What I didn’t see then was, how my days were already full though it travelled slowly.
I could have simply put failed, no I am not scared about the word failure at all, not now. It’s just that I lost the purpose of doing all these after a while. I’m sure I’ll take this up again sometime in the coming years. So, here’s the 5 challenges that I couldn’t successfully complete this year.

1. A Haiku A Day

I had planned 365 haikus. However, I finished only 20 haikus and couldn’t come up with another haiku at all for a while. At times I wrote 10 in a day, and at others, I couldn’t even write a line. No it wasn’t writer’s block, I wasn’t able to go with the flow at all. What I enjoyed the most was writing those 20 haikus. I figured I liked it even more, even though I didn’t acomplish my challenge. I felt like a failure for months, but slowly I realized that I will definitely pick up this project again after a few years. That relaxed me. You can read my Haiku here.

2. Weekly Gratitude Post

Inspired by Sanch, I was all set to do it this year. I wrote for 7 weeks and then couldn’t feel it at all. I found it interesting to write, but I also found it was time consuming for me and I didn’t have the time to sit down and write. I had to manage the house in and out, a full-time mother, a personal assistant and a longing wife in a long distance relationship with zero time for myself. It could look like I’m complaining, no, I am just stating the fact that I was glad to see the blessings while I wrote the post. After two months, I really lost the purpose of gratitude and didn’t find much to write and didn’t want to write it for the sake of it.

3. WriteTribe Reading Challenge

24 books in a year seemed like a fair enough task to start with this year. What was I thinking? I really thought it would be my pleasure to sit and read when my daughter took a nap. Well, I forgot the fact that she is not 5 months anymore. She scribbled a lot and started her new exercise of tearing pages. No, I don’t like it at all. And my Kindle became her book, I don’t know why.

I was on track till February and I really thought I’ll complete the challenge this year. When I started Big Magic in April, I completed it in a month’s time I think. I didn’t rush it, I felt in synch with it and I liked the pace. I managed 13 books this year and I am happy, but I feel sorry for not completing the challenge again this year. My reading goal next year would be 12-14 I think.? Anything beyond that is an achievement.

4. Yell Free Parenting

There are times I didn’t yell at my daughter for two days straight. That’s the highest I’ve scored this year. I’ve had frustrating moments as a single parent this year. I couldn’t be there for her everywhere. So, I’ve noticed myself feeling infuriated mainly because I couldn’t be there always and when I was there was yelling for things she did and she didn’t too. The best part of the challenge is now my daughter questions me on why I shout at her? I’m not going to lie, but I felt shattered at times, but I actually took the time to explain things to her. The last few months (read 4) has been so much better than before. I let her be. I’m learning Parenting and compassion. Above all, I’m learning to let things be. She has started to ask questions and I feel better answering them.

5. Almost every other challenge in SM too

I must say I hardly completed any challenge I took on Social Media too. I couldn’t complete the 90 day challenge with Shy, the mindful break with Shinjini, to name a few.

How do I feel?

I actually felt miserable before I planned to write this down. I also wrote a draft on my laptop and my laptop stopped working after that. Somehow this year in itself was a big challenge for me. When I didn’t find out my BAR Santa, it all came to me. It wasn’t the wake up call or anything, it was simple and I couldn’t even figure that sweet Santa who sent me a lovely gift. I figured I missed things that I could see right in front of me. So, when I had to take time to live my unhurried life and also enjoy the mad rush of my child growing, I only saw the missing parts, but not the blessings in it. Each one’s life is different and cannot be compared at all.

The Social Media break, the time away from my phone, the time with my little one, family and friends and my small venture in retail has given me something to feel happy about. Still, there is major cleansing happening within me. I’d be happy to continue learning the art of letting go, the art of going with the flow and above all taking the time to breathe before I talk.

Is there any challenge you couldn’t complete this year?

My next post will be about the 5 tasks I enjoyed this year. Will meet you soon.

When I initially started Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, I expected some good magic to happen by the end of the read. After all, I definitely need some magic in my life now. That is one of the reasons I picked this book in spite of having an already lengthy list in my TBR. Actually a silly thought here, initially I thought of borrowing this book from the library after seeing it on many TBR lists. Then it happened, I saw the cover of the book and was truly impressed. I don’t know why, but I felt I needed this magic to stay with me. Like, I must stay in touch with the magic.

What I never expected was to experience magic many times during the read. There are so many moments I chose to read the book aloud. I wish I read the entire book aloud so my walls and my room also experienced the magic I felt. They will soon feel the magic. I wrote this as I read the book, I just thought this would be a post where I could write about my feelings then and there while reading the book.

Every time I placed the book down, I was glad because I know I have learnt something about myself or someone that unlocked something inside me. So I felt I must cherish the break I take with this book. The book cover is so colorful that makes me smile at it every time I see the book or pick it up. If you want Magic to capture you all over again, read this! Irrespective of what you do, I sincerely recommend this book to everyone who believes in magic and to those who know there is magic around us. Rest of you, decide for yourself.

There are many times I have regretted not working on an idea that consumes me fully. I have pushed many things behind, some of it because I was extremely afraid to put them on paper and others because I found someone’s version better than mine. Nevertheless, the idea that consumed me would have had it’s own impact on me if I had put it on paper. So, while reading this book, I decided that I would never compare my writing with anyone ever. I’d always focus on myself. After all, it’s my crazy world and work. Though we all go through some same things, we all do things differently, even if some of us do the same things, it will be good to find a few like minds. So, it is worth reading our stories again and again. Somehow, I was bored by it earlier, now, it all feels different. Maybe, that’s what Magic is. We just realize the wonder of our own ideas.

During those times when I sit down and read my own posts, I really wonder, “I don’t even know where that came from.” It reminds me of the strength I have gained against my odds, what has changed in me and how I have changed. It is all marvellous, even though I have more moments of laughter and eye rolling posts.

We all have a Ruth Stone Moment. Yes, a moment. And if we are waiting to be another Harper Lee, I think we cannot, because she herself couldn’t. Liz has beautifully captured most of the thoughts that would otherwise just keep us occupied naturally. This isn’t about a poem rushing towards us, this is about the thoughts that run through our busy minds every single day, those that remain hidden and come out only when we want to see the change in us. While reading the book, I felt a lot of dèjà vu moments mainly because we all go through these, but we choose to ignore them. I have ignored a lot of good. I am glad someone like Liz who considered her genius as someone who helps her, put all this down without fear. I am amazed as I read each and every page, smiling at the thoughts we all go through at some point of time in our lives. It’s all the same, but somehow different.

When I came to reading about Permission, I realized a lot of things. A woman seeks permission for many things. I used to wonder only I was like that, this book made it clear that all of us are the same on that. So, I realized from now, I give myself the full permission to live my creative life the way it appears in front of me rather than just the way I desire it.

While reading this I realized how I had always wanted a degree in Creative Arts. I was born in the time where Engineering or Medicine were the two respected choices by most parents. However, I had different ideas. I wanted to take up journalism, but for a long time it remained a dream. As much as I remember, I had wanted to be an Engineer while in my teens, at other times even a bus conductor – I found the job really appealing.

I accepted Computer Science Engineering course with little care, but enjoyed it thoroughly from Day 1. Around my final year, I found I liked to write and my friends shared their thoughts about my writing and encouraged me to write more. That’s how it all started. Now, as I read this, I realized my fight that day was to enter into a field of writing and that’s not exactly journalism. I am delighted to find my interest in writing flourishing and remaining intact even after 10 years. I love what I do right now(even though it’s on and off), I only wish I spend time every day on my blog. Even while working in the corporate, I was able to write and that’s exactly what kept me sane even then. I understood my Engineering only while I worked in the corporate. Somehow everything so far seems good because I write. I have started writing about it all for my own acceptance. It feels so much better than before.

I met a few students while I was deep into this book. While conversing, one told me he wanted to pursue a good degree in a good college. Most students say something like that. Debt is not something most parents of those kids could handle at the moment. I asked him to go for an education loan if he really wants to pursue the course he desires. He agreed and I told him to keep himself free of debt starting now.

There are parents and children who still decide on the basis on IT for an engineering degree. Today’s children want a job that starts with a minimum of 10K pay. I wasn’t even thinking this way, not even now. I asked one among them if he would go to a job at the Supermarket in case he doesn’t get a job after his degree or even as a part-time, he smirked and said, NO. I said keep your options open, be ready to pick any job initially. He looked at me like I killed his dreams. Well, he will figure it out sooner.

Jobs are step one to keep our dreams alive. We need jobs to pay our bills, to make one problem less to pursue what we’ve always liked. I’d rather be working than dreaming about not being able to do something I like. While I worked full-time, I loved writing most weeks. It made me feel sane during hectic timelines and over-time at work. The focus was entirely on writing and I loved spending every minute of it. When Liz has clearly told about what it is like to work and still write, I felt she was right. We need our jobs to support us.

It is one of the best books to show your fear in front of your eyes and list it out daringly as boring. I loved this book more right there. We are all scared of many things, but to address them as it is and move on takes courage. Let’s all find the courage to break free and live a deep creative life.

I enjoyed reading Big Magic and I know I’d re-read this many times because focus doesn’t come easy now. There’s so many things running constantly on my mind and priorities have changed. Still, it reminds me that I am my priority. So, I’ll need her guidance and to live a life beyond fear. Trust yourself and we’ll find our way in this creative world.

What’s your two cents on Big Magic? I would love to know. If you haven’t read it yet, do read. You’ll not just love it, but nod your head throughout the book to make things better for yourself.

Happy Reading.

April is the month that keeps me thinking about a lot from the past. It’s all about losing your loved ones. I lost my Uncle before 7 years this month. I lost my darling pet Jhansi who was just 7 months old before 3 years. I lost my good friend the same year. 2016 April was not an easy month, while I wanted a shoulder to cry, I became the shoulder to lean on to.

My uncle’s death was very sudden and it still churns my stomach when I think about those moments. Though it still looks like it all happened just a year before, it is already 7 years. It changed a lot about my family. It changed my dad and made him insecure. Losing his cousin brother made him guilty, angry and sad. It’s only after death we feel deeply about the chances we missed. My father became very unapproachable and he was treading on fear that anything can happen anytime to anyone. Life by the end of 2012 was troublesome.

4 years after that, life slowly turned from being miserable to manageable. In December 2015, Chennai streets were flooded overnight due to ineffective planning. I still remember waking up to water everywhere. There was so much chaos everywhere, though that’s the moment we found peace as a family. That was the time we all sat down and spent time together. Those 4 days will be etched in my memory beautifully. We spoke a lot to each other and switched off the denial mode that surrounded us otherwise. We had a lovely little stray dog who had come a week before the floods and she became my companion. I call her my savior. She changed my life and made my father finally cry and gain the peace he had lost years before.

A lovely companion who kept me busy for 4 months after I quit my job. I looked after her day and night. I argued and even fought with anyone who wanted to send her to a pet house/shop. We named her Jhansi because she had a warrior look on her face. She was a warrior. She taught me to buck up and be brave. She looked fragile, but there was a strength in her that anyone can see. I have a detailed post about her here.If you wish to know about this darling, read the post. You will fall in love with her. I cried and cried with no strength left to bother about anything. I dwelled in silence and my parents understood and let me be.

I quit my job in January 2016 and spent full time with the pets at home. Also, this was the time my school dearie S and I became close. We spent so much time talking with each other and made so many plans that never worked out anyway. Still, we spoke a lot, whenever we had the chance. We created chances to talk. Maybe that’s how it works. I missed her dearly after training at Infosys, but failed to keep in touch. Here we were talking like there were no yesterday’s and no tomorrow’s. I didn’t want to miss any more time. I didn’t want anything to end, come on, we just started all over again. The thing is, we never know when anything actually ends.

We spoke about our lives. What went wrong for us, what is going good for us, what is keeping us strong, what is making us cry! She was such a strong soul. She was going through a storm, still one would never guess that if they talk with her. The heartiest woman I personally knew. I don’t think I am even 10% of what she was. I am not putting myself down, but openly accepting the fact that I have to learn to smile during adverse times. We all have demons inside us, but only some of us fight it everyday and fly high. She was that devil who woke up everyday and faced her illness bravely. Even a day before she passed away she laughed and conversed with someone dear to her. She longed for conversations that kept her going. We all do, right?

When I came to know that she passed away through my school group, just a week after our last conversation, I asked the girls to cross-check. I told them it was impossible that it’ll be her. What came back made me cry.

She suffered so much right before she died. She didn’t deserve a life like that. I know her. She needed the peace. She had had enough. Though I miss her, she needed that peace. Rest in Peace, my dear, for you will always be in my heart.

I realized when I saw a quote just before a couple of days. If there was something I could be to keep her with me, is stay cheerful always, for life is short, but it’s only you who can make it sweet.

If you have lost someone you hold dear, you will realize it is their kindness that made them special. Be that! Be Kind! I have a lot to show on that. I wish I have a more kind heart and the ability to understand without judging. This is what I wish for myself this year.

I was jumping in joy thinking about last week. It is one of the most productive weeks since the year started. I came back from the trip and felt a teeny bit rejuvenated. To the mother in me, a vacation means shifting my baby and her duties to another place with a scenic view. So it is nothing like Catskills(in case you are watching Mrs.Maisel, if you have no idea what I am talking about, please take the deserved break to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime) where you have someone, maybe even an entire team to take care of the babies.

? Here I was all excited about last week and how productive I was and knew my Week 6 would look somewhat similar. Somehow, this week I had really less energy compared to last week. All I did was slouch, binge eat and watched Mrs. Maisel, Seedhakaadhi and downloaded a few more movies I had on my watch list.

? My journal had a rough sketch of things I had done this week which is lesser in comparison to the previous weeks. Somehow I love my journal and cannot afford to miss writing in it even though it was about movies and shows I watched each day and the book I started.

? I finished The Wrong Child by Patricia Kay this week! This is book no. 2 out of 24 for Write Tribe Reading Challenge. The review is up in Goodreads.

? I started with an important book this week. I am glad to have found it while browsing Prime reading list. It’s The Power of Posture by Dr. Renu Mahtani. It is a book that I would recommend for everyone to read.

?I wrote in my gratitude journal because I was really grateful for the time I got this week at home. I have my own timings and don’t really go by the clock everyday. I took the liberty to do minimal cooking so I could just sit down and do nothing.

? I am at times glad that I adore what I cook for baby girl. It’s mostly dal and rice with veggies. Mostly one variety of legumes clubbed with veggies and rice. I cook an extra portion for me. Instead of bringing her to our food, I prefer going to get chart since that is really tasty and healthy.

? My phone broke and that is the primary reason I am catching up with books and my long watch list. Though I complained about that for 2-3 days, I felt better gradually. The main thing I missed were the video calls with hubby and my people at home.

That’s all folks. As I write this, I really felt I had a lovely time this week but definitely not a lethargic one as I thought so.

How was your week?

2017.

How happy I was for it to start?
Very much.
Thinking about holding the little one gave me many more things to look forward to.
I was pampered so much.
Now, I need to pamper myself.?
With so much downtime and downs,
Now, I am glad it ended too!

On the last day and last weekend of 2017, I write this post to thank this year for all the ups and downs that had come my way. I had a close to heart beginning and an end this year. Turned 30 this year. Ain’t it the beginning of life?

One reason to celebrate

Celebrations started right from the beginning of this year. My last 5 months of pregnancy were the first five months of this year. Almost 3 baby showers this year and I feel like I was dressed up all the time. The next seven months was all baby time and I didn’t even know where I left all my dresses!

One reason to be happy about

Ilakkiya is such a cute baby and I couldn’t help but admire her. She has already started teaching me enough lessons. 7 months just flew by and I am not just happy about the whole experience, but on cloud nine too. I hadn’t blogged for almost a year. It’s my daughter who has made me know the importance of time and I am glad I write more after her. She has taught me the value of time, moments like these, fill my mind and my blog space with good posts.

One reason to enjoy reading

I had too many mood swings during pregnancy, I hardly read any books. The only book that I kept handy was “What to Expect during your pregnancy”. That was the only book I read and I read it like gospel. One month at a time as and when needed. After delivery, I am trying to read “The Fountainhead”. Yes, if I complete a page a day that’s great success. Anyway, I am glad I could read a page a week, but even that makes it all good. Come on, my moments with my little one will never come back. So, I am so happy I get to read/write when she sleeps. Just like now.

One thing that bothered Me

This year I have complained so much. Like 365 days wasn’t enough and 24 hours wasn’t even a fit. Even as this year closes by, I have complained about a few things and people in the morning. Truly, this year has been the year I have complained the most. In all my 30 years, this is the only year I have complained the most. So much so that I have set a day or two to be away from complaints. I must work on that. I have not felt drained though, but I am sure it will have its side effects. I want it to end right here.

One thing I am learning

I am slowly learning to manage the home. It really isn’t easy because I am not a consistent person. The chore list doesn’t really end. It only grows. I actually feel bored quick. That is the first reason, I chose the word for 2018. So I can stick to it without my mind running in a hundred different directions. This is also the actual reason why my 2017 stands high in complaints.

One thing I am thankful for

My family has been very kind to me in many ways than I give them credit. Though they are also the reason I complaint or get mad, they are also the reason for some of my smiling. I am thankful for the good moments they have given me. In all the 5 months after delivery I spent at Mom’s place, I have loved, lived and enjoyed like never before. My husband has been very understanding and did more chores than I did this year along with the office work. He has been very kind and offered a helping hand in more things at home than I thought he would. I really appreciate when men help.

One thing that I changed

I usually talk a lot. Being straightforward and honest was how I was. Many of my on the face comments came as rude to even the closest people. I have changed that. I give suggestions when asked, but if not taken I try to leave it at that. Also, I have found there is always a subtle way to point out things. I am learning that and also trying to talk that way. Many people try to put me in their league because of the comments I offered now after the change. I am learning how to handle the unnecessary emotional baggage that many carry and when they shower it on me, I don’t know to handle it. I am learning that as well, to see people as people and emotions as just that. A very long way to go.

One thing I want to do

Stay away from toxic people. Some people repeat sorry stories that are not just saddening, but also draining. I really want to stay away from that drama. I cannot handle too much drama.

One thing I am proud of

Being amongst the top 5 finalist list for Orange flower awards in the poetry category is the beginning of my new phase as a poetess and writer. I am glad there is something to turn to when nothing else seems to be working out. I am also happy to find some new bloggers this year from whom I have learnt so much than so many years of blogging before. I love you guys! I have thanked them before and I will thank them always!

One thing to be grateful for

Gratitude with Upasna and Vidya changed so much for me this year. I am not just thankful for the changes I saw in two months, but also how happy I am about her app coming out soon. Blogchatter project has helped me write about my pets. Write Tribe challenge was the first though to encourage me to Just Write. I am thankful for that as well.

One thing I wanted to do but didn’t

Gratitude daily journal, gratitude pie and FMS December challenge. All relates to social media. I couldn’t proceed more daily tasks and I don’t want to write the excuses I gave myself.

One person I am glad to have in my life

My grandmother! My maternal grandmother. I know she is old, she forgets a lot and also annoys me sometimes. However, at 83 she is the best gift for my daughter. To have a great grandmother who loves my daughter so much more and cherishes every moment is such a beauty to watch.

One new platform I used this year

Instagram is so lovely. I like it and feel it has a personal touch than Facebook. I have used it and liked it and recommend it to my friends who have started feeling FB is bugging them!

I am thankful for so many moments this year. So many new people and new experiences this year had given me. Good or bad, it is a learning and it has just made me see something about me that I haven’t seen before. Thanks 2017.
